I have a question for somebody... he plans on adding 2 GB of ram on top of his 1 GB of ram...
but the thing is they are of differnt speeds and brands. - will this work?

This is the motherboard:
http://www.intel.com/products/motherboard/d955xbk/index.htm

512 MB DDR2-SDRAM

Proposed ADDITION of RAM in the system:
2 sticks of:
1 GB DDR2-SDRAM
PC2 5300
Patriot

It will work, but it may or may not speed up the system. It will have a lot of RAM but he'll lose dual-channel. The 5300 will be slowed down to 4300 speeds. Potentially, he may just want to use the 5300 by itself.
