I purchased MSI Gaming laptop on eBay and I was wondering if it's a decent gaming laptop or not. I know it is (I think) but I want to get some feedback from you guys. Also, can these specs handle most games on high settings? Also, guess the price I paid for this laptop. Just to get a rough idea if I'm getting charged more or not. Also, what can I upgrade in the future? I know I can upgrade my hardrive, but I'm not sure. If yes what shall I upgrade and what shall I get? (I'm noob when it comes to tech)

Really appreciated.
Thanks :)

Does the MSI GT70 have an extra bay for SSD?
If yes, add SSD
If no, either add SSD or Seagate XT (hybrid drive) depending on if you want the space.
The seagate XT provides pretty close to desktop HDD performance.

edit: the gt70 has space for 2x mSATA SSDs

the 1TB hitachi is a bit slow

And I'll guess $1701? That's the cheapest price I see on ebay for a MSI GT70 with 4800mq, gtx 770m, and bluray :D.
I would've probably settled for the $1370 version on amazon with the 4700mq, 8gb ram, and dvd drive (I'd probably replace the dvd with a bluray myself) so net cost would be ~$1430. Though the upgrade to 4800mq and increased ram is probably worth it depending on usage scenario.

I can play almost all current games on high and a lot on ultra, with the 770m you will be high at the most. For example, BF4 on high gives me > 60fps, Skyrim maintains 60fps on max settings, haven't tried Crysis 3. I got mine for $1800 new from Newegg and the 17" minus SSD should be around 1500 used at the most.

The GTX770M is a GK106 with all 960 shaders enabled, which makes it roughly equivalent to an underclocked desktop GTX 660. Expect performance to fall somewhere between the GTX 650 Ti Boost and GTX 660. So the answer to your question is,yes you can play pretty much any game at high details, and some completely maxed out with AA.

I have the 660 TI on my PC and I certainly can't play all games max :(
Just curious.

The thing is that even the most powerful mGPU out (780m) is comparable to only a GTX660ti or a HD 7870, which positively can't play all demanding AAA titles @ highest settings at 1080p.

High and highest are two different things. I think you should be able to play all games @ high.

That's what I stated above with my laptop which should be a pretty good indicator for the same machine with a 770m instead. The 780m is basically a 680 but clocked 200Mhz lower and limited to a smaller power supply.
