Can this Excel stupidity be fixed?

The first instance of excel opens fine, then it inexplicably starts placing them lower and lower. Is there a way to make windows open in the same spot?

That is a Windows thing, not Excel thing.

But Word doesnt do it. If I open 5 Words they all appear fully on the screen. When the window reaches the taskbar the next one appears at the top of the screen and it just cycles downward like you'd expect. None of the Word windows are partially obstructed by the taskbar.

Have a look at this link for some information:
I think you may need to find the "xlstart folder" and delete it. Excel should recreate it next time it opens.

humm, my excel 2013 doesn't do that either. weird. It starts from the top again when the lower edge hits the taskbar
