Can this be right? getting 26C idle and my case temp is 28C

I was just looking at my USDM for my epox 8rga and I noticed that it said that my idel temp was 26C, and my case temp was 28C. I have a slk-900u and a tornado fan, and a bunch of case fans. The thing is though, all the fans are turned to really low settings because they annoy the hell out of me. Can my temps really be this low?

How is something cooled by air going to be colder than the surrounding air where it dumps the heat? Unless you have active cooling such as a peltier you cannot get temps below ambient (or temp of the water if watercooling).
So you temp sensor-program must be set up wrong, maybe the two a switched.

Great temps even though they might be switched backwards. Run alittle Unreal tournament for 1 hour and report back.

You might have a very solid system that will be cooled nicely for gaming.

How can your processor be only at 78.8 F? seems messed up to me. Plus it impossible for the CPU to be lower than ambiant without refrigeration.

I understand where you guys are coming from with the ambient temperature thing, but please remember that the case temp sensor is not the same as ambient temp for the HSF. It is very possible to have a case temp sensor located in a dead spot that is warmer than the rest of the case air.
Having said that, it does seem unlikely that those temps are accurate. It would help to know what proccesor you are running.

my AT7-MAX2 regularly tells me that my CPU surface temp is 101F, 113F for Core temp, but my "system temp" (whatever TF that is) is like 130F... ignore it.....

Your system is probably your Northbridge temp.

m1ke101--What's the temperature of the room you are in?

I have found a way to force the "idle" command on my CPU and when my CPU is idle it will usually be case temp or a degree or 2 lower. This is die temp readings as well. I just wish I could figure out how to enable the "idle" command using the nforce2 chipset when it comes time to upgrading.

I had the same thing with a 2-PIII's that I use as a file server. My guess is that either the sensor is SNAFU'd or the system sensor is located in a warm spot with less air flow, hence the warmer temps. I gave the socket the feel test and it was almost dead cold. I have no idea where the system sensor is in relation to the socket so I figure it might have been in a hot spot in the case. I turned down the fans on the HS and the cpu temps are now about 3C above the system temp. Either way it's cool enough so I really haven't looked at it in a while.
