Can this be done? (Dual NICs in two machines)

I don't know if this is possible or not. I'm trying to speed data transfer between two machines. I've got a 8 port 100btx switch at home. On a regular basis, I have to transfer large (>1GB) video files to my NT server 4.0 box from my Win98SE box. Is there any way to add an additional NIC to each computer so that I have two connections transferring at the same time in parallel? I currently have a 3Com 905b 10/100 card in each computer running in full duplex mode. I think Windows can do something similar with modems to increase the speed of a dial-up connection, provided you have two phone lines.

Thanks

I have heard of doing this, but I would not be surprised if you need to run a Server product to do so. Try a search on NIC trunking or bundling. I seem to remember Compaq NIC's implementing this at the driver level as well. Sorry I cannot be more specific.

Look into the Intel Pro+ 100 NIC cards. These can be binded together. However, I am not sure if you need a managed switch or Intel switch for this to work.

You need a server NIC like mine! If you have more than one, you can team them together and pump out more bandwith.

I slipped a pair of 3Com Server NIC's into an aging PPro 200 server and bound them together as a virual NIC and it dramatically increased the performance.
