Can this 6950 be flashed to 6970?

well, to clarify a few points, (this is only AFAIK) it looks reference, so it should unlock (will it be stable? another issue...) AND if it is reference it should have the easy reset switch should something go wrong. With that said, some reference models will unlock as well, but they will not have the bios flip switch, with a few high end exceptions.

Easiest way to do it? Make sure you do your research first, but, use GPUz to save the bios, then, with RBE, (radeon bios editor) there is a simple option while editing to unlock the cores. see if it will save, but make sure you save the original as a backup.

if it looks like the bios was edited an saved correctly, then use ATIwinflash to flash.

I flashed both my xfx reference ones without a hitch. Just dont use the 6970 bios, as that has different voltage settings for the ram, which can harm a 6950.

simply unlock the shaders, and enjoy overclocking with software such as MSI afterburner. also, you may want to enable more power draw in CCC.

YMMV, but I hope this helps

Board makers fixed this a long time ago. Chances are if its a fairly recent to market card it won't work

Are you sure about that? I think they just removed the bios-restore switch. Anyways, this looks just like my reference cards, just different art.

this. technically you can unlock any 6950 using this method regardless of reference design, framebuffer size, or bios switch present or not.
