Can the U.S. prevent China from sending peacekeepers into Iraq?

The question is simple:

Can the U.S. prevent China from sending peacekeepers into Iraq?

The Chinese apparently have been toying with the idea. If they decide to ship a division over to Iraq would the U.S. be able to prevent their deployment? It turns out that China's new industrial surge was largely built on cheap oil this past two years, something that has changed dramatically for them this past several months. With Russia now bawking on the oil pipeline deal that would have given them oil for $3-$4 a barrel, and instead engaging in talks with Japan, the Chinese may take an unprecedented step here. My personal opinion is that they cannot do it, but thats besides the point.

I'd say we have about 250,000 things that will prevent them from doing anything of the sort

The Chinese do not have the capability to move a division of troops anywhere. Where are you getting this information?

If this is true, they don't need to send a division right way. Even establishing their meager military presence with Iraqi or Arab League's acknowledgment woud put the US in a diplomatic limbo. Especially after the US mistakenly bombed their embassy in Jugoslavia a few years back.

WHats wrong with chinese peacekeepers, do u think after the war is finished, America wants to sit in there and do all the peacekeeping themselves? They are probably welcome but I doubt the Chinese will want to donate peacekeeping forces

My exact thoughts. Any source for this?

It would create conflict if this occurred outside the boundaries of the NATO organization. Back in the Kosovo crisis I remember the Russians took the airport. That created some hostilities. That could happen again, the Russians or Chinese could sneak right in. The last thing the US wants to do is create incident with them, but they have agendas of their own

You mean the Russians and Chinese only want the oil? I thought that was the reserved distinction of the US, you know Bush and all of his oil buddies?

The airport tension was a great move on Russias part though and I agree with what they did. They showed they had an interest in what was going on and they should be included. In the end they had the same goals as the US so it worked out. This time it would be a disaster for the intervening nation if they just took the oil fields.
