can the same router serve a pc and a mac?

i have the unfortunate setup of a sister with an imac; i'm hoping that yon DSL will function with both.

In the routers i've looked at, few mention compatability--i can't think of why it wouldn't be OS-independent, but that could be on account of my ignorance in all matters networking

As long as the Mac does TCP/IP (unless it's from the stone age it should) it will work fine.
