Can the RIAA do anything against people who share music not from the RIAA?

Say I'm on Kazaa or something like that... but I only share music not "owned" by the RIAA.. like indie stuff or whatever. Would I be safe from the RIAA? I guess I'm operating under the assumption that other labels wouldn't sue the pants off of me.

What Heisenberg said is 100% true.
That being said, Indie labels technically could sue you the same way that the RIAA does, however, most of them are "anti-RIAA" and do not agree with the RIAA's approach. So I highly doubt they would even consider lawsuits to stop people from pirating their music. Many indie bands that I know of fully condone MP3s as a way to spread their music. They'd rather sell a CD then have someone download it for free, but they would rather have someone download it for free then not listen to it at all...

I don't use Kazaa but I have other means, but I have to share music to download it, too. I download music to try it out. if I like it, I buy it. I do purchase CDs from stores. But I'd rather have a quick and easy way to try out all the music I want to buy beforehand. That's why I was asking the question.

same reason the MPAA doesn't go after people sharing pr0n on the net. Now THAT would be hilarious.

To the OP.PM me man I will you set you up using torrents. It hurts my heart to hear you are using kazaa.

There are tons of good RIAA safe indie/punk/metal sites.
