Can the power supply in this system handle the drain?

I'm looking at this system from MicroCenter:

Yes, I know, I know I could put it together cheaper, but I tried it once and for me it's less agita to buy it off the shelf--it's worth the additional money.

The question I have is, that computer comes with an Allied 500W power supply. Is that going to be enough to handle those two 660ti's in SLI?

I doubt it. It's an awful power supply, and you really need between 600W and 750W for SLI.

That's what I thought, but I was like "nah, they wouldn't be charging $1600 for a computer that could self-destruct from lack of power, could they..."

I wonder how many of these PowerSpec boxes have failed.

Of course, you can spend about 70 bucks more for your own PSU.

I'm sorely tempted to do that, it's still a good buy for that setup with two 660 Ti's, especially if I can bargain them down a touch at Microcenter...

Wow. That psu is just plain insulting on a relatively high end/high price machine like that. Really shame on them.

You can get the best of both worlds by ordering parts here and then sending them in to be built by Microcenter, for a fee ($100 or so is common).
