Can the ipod (5G) play back wav files at 24 bits?

I have a program called Anapod manager. I haven't tried loading any 24 bit files - yet. Does this work? 24/44.1 would be ok. 24/96 would be fantastic. :D

Ugh! That would reduce it to CD quality!!! :frown:

EDIT: I'm going to try this. If it works it may just be downsampling. (CL mode hehe) I'll put some test tones in there to verify if that's the case. I need to back it up though it has about 54GB on it and I would not be happy if it gets toasted. :Q

Its an iPod, not an audiophile's dream :p

I believe the highest quality PCM WAV an iPod will play is 48 KHz/16 bit, no higher.

If the iPod doesn't do it natively, you might want to take a look at rockbox to see if it supports what you're looking for. RB DOES makes the iPod an audiophile's dream :D

That looks cool but I cannot see where it could overcome hardware limitations, i.e. DAC.
