can the incisions to remove wisdom teeth reappear/reopen long after?

It's been nearly a year since I got my wisdom teeth removed, but sometime last week, the upper back part of my gum right above my molars has some sort of cut in it that hurts and it's a little bit swollen. It doesn't bleed though, and the part of the gum that borders the molar isn't inflamed.

Can the incisions used to remove my wisdom teeth have opened up again a year after the surgery?

Agreed. Isn't scar tissue (especially in the mouth) generally the same as bone fractures? Once healed the possibility of opening/breaking in the same place is HIGHLY unlikely

It's not impossible, but improbable. More than likely you were eating something hard/crunchy (tortilla chips and even regular potato chips will do a number on my gums back there.), and either poked a hole or just got enough torn apart back there to house a minor infection.

agreed, i've had a dorito shard do MASSIVE damage to the roof of my mouth, and a Lay's shard do the same to the far left back top of my jaw

I was under the impression that new bone would grow in to replace the sockets, if that's what you're referring to.

another possibility is you could have a post surgical piece of bone/or tooth chip working it's way out and breaking back through your gum tissue.
