Or does it have to be repaired by a locksmith? I got semi-stranded the other day because my key wouldn't go into the ignition switch on my truck. I'd never had a problem before and I got lucky that a guy that worked there came out and helped me get it started with a paperclip and the key. He said my ignition switch was dying and I needed it fixed/replaced. Now it's sticking in the start position and sometimes won't go there at all. I really don't want to get stuck again.

Can I replace it myself or do I have to have a locksmith come and fix it? If I can fix it myself, where would I get the part? Ford dealership?

Best from the dealer. Ive had 14 automobiles so I know.

My advice - see if you can take old one out first before you buy the new one. Usually a flat head and phillips will do. Dont force anything or youll break it!

Good luck.
