Can the hardware monitor be wrong?

Ive got an XP 2600 on an asus a7v600 that isnt reporting consistant temps. MBM and asus's own utility (pc probe) tell me one temp for the cpu, but if i immediatly reboot and check the bios hardware monitor, it shows one that is about 10 degrees higher. Which one is more likely wrong? Odd thing is though, the other sensor (case) is consistant in both the bios and the programs. I dont have an external temp monitor or anything else id check it with that.

It is normal to show a higher temp when in the bios. Can't give the technical details why but when in the bios the cpu is more active than it is in windows at idle. Just guessing but i think it has something to do with the windows idle process which isn't running when you are in the bios.

OK, thats cool, and i didnt mention this before, but the temps i was looking at in windows were at full load with F@H. So the bios temps are 10 degrees higher than full load.......
