Iam applying to colleges and one of the questions is have i ever had a liscence suspension, and i had one back in the day for truancy(thats the punishment in florida). I was 17 at the time, senior year, etc. I was going to put yes, then I realized that no where on there do they ask for my drivers license number. I ended up ordering my driver license record to see if it was on there anyways, and my name is taken out for privacy reasons, but ironically Iam listed as black on the record when Iam white.

Do you think that is enough of a discrepancy? even if it wasnt, do you think they can still find my license record just off my ss# and name which is not even listed on the record. Whats even funnier is that i went to highschool with a black guy the same exact name as me, and they always confused us, wrong report cards one time.

I dunno if they can, when i was ordering my own it required a licsense number, and i dont tihnk it even asked for ss#. Im sure it can still be looked up though. Im just wondering if this discrepancy is enough to get me off.

I don't think it will weight heavily into their decision, if anything they might give you a break thinking you are a minority.

lol. I need to switch this too, they may think iam applying for someone else or something. Now would be a good time to put black on the application, make things a tad bit easier, lol. Just kidding....

Why don't you just tell the truth, and then you don't have to worry about it any more?

Forget the suspension...you have bigger problems if your drivers license says your black and your actually not...

I'm not sure that is public record.....but then again....insurance companies are authorized to look it up. I would guess that the school CAN look it up, but most schools don't have the resources to. Too many students and usually only a few administrators. Just let that violation "slip your mind"....

If this was related to a security clearance, its a bigger deal if you hide something big than just coming clean about it. Investigators are looking for anything that can be used to extort or blackmail. If they find one 'omission' from the application its a big sign there could be something else.

I am not saying that this applies to your current situation though, because it doesn't.

Honestly, there is enough discrepancy not to even bring the issue up on the application. If you want to claim you are a minority I would list it though.

It might just be part of a knowledge base they precompile on students for any type of student employment.

thing is if they do see the suspension, i dont think there will be any way for me to argue that its a discrepancy. They also have my licsense issuance date a yr before i got it too.

Here's an idea - why don't you tell them the truth about having your license suspension ( :Q ) and then write a well-thought explanation of why you think it shouldn't be held against you - how you've changed since you lost your license.

First let me say don't lie period. Then I'll go one further to say, especially don't lie on College Applications and Job Resumes. They can find out more stuff on you than you can imagine...Will they, well who knows.

Just tell them the truth and, as mugs said, tell them how you have changed and how it was a mistake that you will never ever make again.
