i dont know, but i would guess that it would. its a recent amd video solution, so it likely can do 1440p but you might want to get confirmation

If the old core 2 duos at work can handle 1080p, I don't see why a Trinity APU would have much trouble with a 1440p monitor for desktop work. I wouldn't expect it to run games anywhere close to high settings at 1440p though, high end discrete GPUs paired with high end intel processors have a tough time with that still unless you're talking about $1500+ SLI/Xfire rigs.

Hmm, couldn't I set the games to a lower resolution? Even if I get the black bars on the side and all that?

The forth one. So I should be fine. Thanks.

And for gaming? Does that monitor or anything force me to 1440p or can I lower it?

You should be able to adjust your resolution in-game and typically the monitor will scale it appropriately unless the resolution is labelled as windowed.

If you keep the same aspect ratio, it should look OK, but anytime you move away from an LCD monitor's native resolution you're not going to look great.

I would probably first try to stay at the higher resolution, but turn down details/graphics settings and AA. See if that gives you playable frames first, and then worry about lowering the res.
