can"t uninstall nero 5

trying to uninstll nero 5 to be able to load new nero when my new dvr gets here , went to add &remove in control panel but have way thru it stops and i get a fatal errror, how else can i remove it? sam
 
To uninstall in safe mode press F8 before windows starts to load. Then choose 'safe mode' from the menu.
When I upgraded from a CD burner to a DVD burner I was able to install the new DVD burning version of Nero 6 right over top of the old version. ou might try doing it that way.
 
It's counterintuitive, but first install Nero 5 and then try the uninstall. Something has gone wonky in the uninstall routine and that is usually fixed by re-installing the software. If it will re-install OK you should be able to go ahead and successfully uninstall. If the program has its own uninstaller, use that. Also more programs now offer an uninstall utility on their web sites. This mostly applies to printers, video drivers and such but see if Nero has such a utility.
