All,
I've had the same problem with two different cards and I was wondering if it was related to something else in my setup or a "feature" of the nvidia drivers.
When I set the "turn off monitor" value, the monitor doesn't actually shut off, it just blanks the screen. With my old 3dfx card, it went completely into "standby" mode, where the power light went to orange. Prior to installing the new nvidia drivers, using XP's default drivers, the monitor would shut off also. Once I install nvidia's driver, this no longer works.
So.... would someone with an nvidia card and the 66.93 driver (on XP) do the following:
[*]Set the monitor to turn off after 1 minute
[*]Wait 1 minute
[*]Tell me what happens.
Does the monitor actually shut off, or does the screen go blank? Does you monitor's power indicator LED change to a different color?
Other info about my setup:
Asus A7V8X mobo
Have tried TNT2 16 MB card and FX5200 128 MB card, same results
Nokia 446x pro monitor.
See also this thread on nvidia's forums for more info.
Thanks,
-Brett.
