Can someone verify if the new Hotfix for ATA100 in Win2k actually works?

Microsoft has a hotfix, it will be in service pack 2 also, that is supposed to enable ATA/100 support for HD's. However they say after you install the fix that it will still register in Device Manager as PIO mode, but to ignore this as it's incorrect.

Forgive me for being cynical, but my HD shows PIO mode now, and if it still says PIO after I install the hotfix, how do I know it's worked?

it works

if I run the drive speed check in nero before the hot fix I get a figure of 7000 or so but with the hot fix in this rises to 37000 yes it still says PIO
