Can someone tell me how to setup a FTP?

I wanna host some files to a few friends, and I would like to setup and FTP. Please help a fellow anandtech'r out! Thanks!

I run a program called Serv-U FTP on my WinX box and I use IIS on my Win2K box...if you do not have a static IP then goto www.dns2go.com to get a IP ROuter

As long as you have a static ip, you should be good. What OS are you using? If you are using win98/Me, you can get a free ftp server software called War FTP. Search for it on the internet. Once you set it up, you can set up accounts on your pc and others will be able to ftp your computer and download/upload files to ya.

Sorry for the stupid question, but is FTP a PC to PC connection? Wondering if a file transferred thru FTP has transferred thru many servers like an email? Also another way of asking if there's a e-trail, like email has?

FTP creates a direct connection. And as far as I know, there is not trail..

ICQ transfers are sort of the same thing.

there will always be some sort of trail, your uplink and stuff, it has to go through them.
