Facebook can see if you look at it. And, it's information. If it's information that's stored, there's no reason to ever delete it. Storage is cheap. Some day, that information might serve as marketing information. And, with Facebook's constant policy changes and privacy changes, who knows? Maybe next week, you'll have a list of not only who looked at your profile, but the name of every person who looked at any of your photos, along with the duration of time that you looked at that photo. So, looking at an image of your scantily clad ex of 20 years for 7 straight minutes? Maybe next week, right under the picture, it says, "viewed by Mayne for 427 seconds." Ewwwwwwwwww.

Maybe she'll realize she made a mistake when she broke up with me?

I had to watch a group that was repeatedly stealing merchandise from my employer. I was showing my roommate what these trannies were up to when he tapped "Send Friend Request" on my phone, sharing my location (they didn't live around here) and employer. I canceled and blocked access and changed all my details as quickly as I could so that I would not interfere with the law enforcement investigation, but he-she still could have seen it first or pulled it from an email notification.

Nah was a month.

I'm refraining from nukes from orbit, but the urge is building again.

I had one of my friends post on their time line something to the extent of "whoever is stalking me, stop it, and if I find out I will remove you". so my guess is there is a way to know that people are looking at your stuff just not who it is. I can't seem to find any such setting though, but it might be a 3rd party app (and I would not trust those with a 10 foot insulated pole).

Would not surprise me if they eventually add that feature though. Basically a list of who viewed what or who searched for you, or a list of all your searches etc.

No, they can't. Any app or anything that says it can tell is lying. FB is never going to add that ability either.

You can see your own search history though somehow, though I don't remember where to find it. (And then clear it if you don't want it showing repeated searches for your friend's hot sister or whatever.)

Maybe you'll suddenly show up on their "People you may know" listing.

10TB drives are well on their way.
Shingled Magnetic Recording is expected to give up to 3 terabits per square inch.

And ASCII text compresses quite well.

Once they discover a decent way to market it (Join Facebook Prime for $50/year! See who's been checking out your profile for only $25 more! $550/year if you want to prevent people from seeing if you've viewed their profile.)

We're getting there...

I've heard tale of an app that allows one to see who's viewing their profile, but I don't think it's a stock feature; since knowledge of how creepy social media actually is is damaging to Facebook's goals.

I see random people in my 'People you may know' list that we have no mutual friends. Does that mean they looked at my profile?

Same location, school, member of same group on there, etc. Could also be friends of friends (i.e. you have a friend that is a friend with someone they're a friend with).
