1. PC will be used for some video editing but mostly gaming, and day to day tasks.

2. Budget is around 1500 before taxes.

3. Will be purchasing from Canada.

4. No Brand Preference.

5. Got a monitor keyboard and mouse.

If you could please just look it over and make sure I didn't mess anything up. I bought a similar PC last year but with the sandy bridge chipset. This is for my brother. He would like to SLI in the future hence the 750W PS. I will be looking for sales and combo prices before I buy. Should be noted I will be ordering from NCIX Canada.

Thanks again guys you were a real help last year for my computer and I trust you guys.

Seems pretty damn good to me, the OCZ SSD's are known to have some reliability issues but I think perhaps they just gained a bad rep with specific batches. System looks pretty solid, I think your brother will be very pleased with the build!

Edit: One thing I forgot to mention, the 670 is overkill for 1920x1080 for basically every title out currently, if your brother is considering SLIing in the future I hope its with a higher resolution monitor, as I don't see it being necessary for 1920x1080 for quite some time considering the strength of the 670.

Before buying an OCZ drive I'd make very sure it had a solid controller/solid reviews. I bought an early OCZ SSD that was just awful and a friend of mine had his OCZ SSD fail after only about 18 months of use.

Thanks for that. Completely missed that. Will change them.. was thinking of switching to the G.SKILL Ripjaws X F3. Sound good?

I bought the vertex 3 when it first came out last year for my computer and it had a lot of problems with it back then. I managed to get a good one i guess as it hasn't failed me yet. ( Knock on wood). But i assumed they had fixed all those firmware issue's by now. But i think you guys are right and I'll just switch to crucial or san disk. Thanks guys.

As for the 670 being overkill ... I agree but he has his heart/wallet set on it, and it was the one thing he told me to build around. He may in fact get more screens in the future before he SLI's, but atleast he won't have any problem playing any games with the single 670. Thanks again

Also just a quick question. Wanted someone to just verify that the 750W would be suitable if he did decide to SLI? He doesn't plan to overclock the GPU's and knowing him it will be a slight overclock on the CPU.

750 is a monster. Assuming it's a solid supply, you should have no problem - advertised wattage doesn't matter as much as the quality of the supply.

A solid 750W will be more than enough to run it provided it provides enough amps to power 2 670s, you'll probably want to look into a high quality (and higher price usually) PSU. As for the memory I saw nothing wrong with the set I linked earlier, proper voltages and pretty standard timings as well as being cheapest AR.

And the OCZ SSD's have a bad rep but that doesn't mean all their units were bad, perhaps just a much higher than average amount due to bad firmware early on but they've likely worked out the issues (that or they don't care about losing money in the long run) so you don't HAVE to change your choice. However if you do the Crucial M4 is renown for its reliability long term as well as being moderately priced.

The Vertex3 was the higher-performing SSD (I have a Agility3, the 'econo-box' model) and I have read about more problems with those than probably any other SSD OCZ offers... if it was my money, I wouldn't try it, there are far more reliable choices like the aforementioned Crucial M4... the price of which has really come down lately.

Don't get me wrong, the Vertex3 is a very good bargain these days... if you roll with it, make sure it's updated with the most recent firmware, and I would (I have...) make a backup image of it after you have everything loaded up and working... in case of failure.

The TX750v2 is a fine PSU and perfectly capable of what you need it to do. It does have 2x sets of PCIe power connectors if you want to SLI your GPU.

I can also vouch for the TX750 Corsair. I have the power supply myself, and it has been excellent.

Agree. The GTX 670 has a power profile similar to that of a GTX 560 Ti. It is not a very hungry card relative to its performance. Even a high quality 650W like this XFX Pro 650W is plenty.
