title says it all. i am budgeting about 700 for this. need mobo, cpu, graphics card, ram, possibly a new psu, serial hds also. AMD 64 preferrable.

700 isnt gonna get you anything i was looking at mobo, cpu and gcard, ram ... wow i was so shocked at how expensive things get...

mobo and cpu amd64 is gonna run at least 350? decent card is like 200 and ram is like 200 the rest of the parts are gonna run you well over your budget...

hopefully my new rig

and thats running about 1500 right now... yeah goodluck, if you find something lemme know :-D

So I take it you already have a monitor,keyboard,mouse,speakers,case,and sound card?

yep got all those. i dont game that much anymore, but yeah an ok system for gaming is an agenda. i have just been out of touch with all the parts and stuff and am too busy to research anything.

So basically you want CPU power? Where does your current computer fall short for you? Current PSUs brand/model/12V rail rating?

currently i have a xp1900+ running on 768mb of pc2100 ram.

geforce 6600le. nice budget card, can handle new games if you decide you want to play them

2x512mb corsair value select ddr400

should meet your budget. and you get dual core!!!

Get the opteron 165. Its cheaper and has a 1mb cache on each core and just overclock that sucker to at least 2.4 ghz.
