I'm looking for a laptop sub 1200, the lower the better that will let me be able to multi task and hold up as both a desktop replacement (until Jan.) and be able to go portable. A decent battery life is also a plus.

I've been looking at alot of laptops. I've also owned a Dell (700m), HP (p4 heat monster), and a G4 mac (Need windows now) . For the dell lovers - I agree dell has good prices, but to be honest the quality just doesnt seem there. I've been recommended sagers but as shallow as it sounds, i dont like the looks. I'm looking for something that is at least 15.4, doesnt weigh so much, performs great, and look slick.

The only game i would ever play on my lappy is counter strike source, and maybe not even at all.

I do alot web design, photography and image work.

Who makes quality laptops for decent $$$. Which models to look at.

I love the look of Asus, but not the price. Maybe i could pull one cheap off ebay.

Acer seems like a good alternative as long as i dont go ferrari. I'm sure the ferrari will get old fast and be way to $$ up front.

Alienware still seems to be ok, as long as i dont go for a neon color. Though they are expensive, they look to hold value well.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

How about a Latitude series notebook such as the D520 (14.1 or 15" screen) or is that too big? It looks like you can configure a nice D520 for about $1200, though it will be running on the Intel Integrated Graphics.

If you wanted to spring 2-3 hundred more, you could pick up a W7J (7400Go, 13.3" WideScreen...)

Other notebooks fulfilling your requirements in budget and specs:
Lenovo N100
HP DV5000t
