I am looking forward to buy a guitar amplifier, possibly a Crate, a Marshall or a HiWatt. I am willing to spend $300 MAX.....

I have a crate amp to play around the house and they have a 5 year warranty, I've had it for years and it still sounds great. $300 sould get you a good one to use around the house.

the tube amps have a nice hollow sound I love. Whereas the new IC amps are solid. Personally by brand I prefer Fender or Marshall gutair ams+speaker combo.
HOwever go down to your local store and see what they have got, try a few and see what you like.

If you can scrape together the dough, buy a Marshall half-stack and you'll never look back. There's a reason all the stars play them...

It depends... what kind of music you're playing. For some serious heavyass metal music Laney is very decent choice, I love my TFX700, it beats the living crap out of Marshall in heaviness. In the other hand Marshall has clearer sound, might be better for lead/solo. Dont have much experience in Crate, but they are quality stuff.

Well, I have to say quality wise, cheap crate's and marshall suck. A friend that fixed amps saw alot of these come thru his work...cheap crate is real junk, marshal sounds ok, but still not the greatest quality. Marshalls big thing is there cabinets sound good.

Don't know much about HiWatt, but arn't they more than $300?

I hate to say this, but for cheap, Peavey is hard to beat...I have seen there chorus amp for what you want to pay, and they have some ok tube amps that ya can find for your price.

Myself, I like tubes so I have a Rivera amp. If you keep your eyes open, maybe ya can find a used one in you price range....maybe.

Update: I play rock music like Oasis, Pearl Jam, 3 doors down, Blink (my favorite), Incubus, Offspring.........

I would appreciate it if you can tell me the model number of a particular amp that you recommend to me. Even better, tell me where to buy and where to check for the cheapest price for a guitar accesories.
Thanks a lot guys.

I'd probably get something like this Fender: Blues Junior

15 Watts, all tube, 12" speaker. It'll sound better than a LOT of other amps in this price range.

I would look in vintage guitar magazine. I have seen some very good deals in there.

I still would stick with the Peavey tube amps. They are the best bang for the buck.

If you can find a good Classic 50 2x12 you will love it. there Classic 30 also sounds sweet, it has 1 12" speaker.

I would say that Fender amps sound good, when cranked all the way up. They dont sound as good at lower and mid volume.

Maybe if you could find a used Messa Boogie Subway amp. They are ok, if you like Messa's sound.

Try Musicians Friend, they have a web site. You can often use there prices for price matching. Most of the shops around here will pricematch.

Just remember that the marked price on amps will be way high. Ask them what the real price is for cash, then try to deal down from there.

Thanks for sayin that, I have a Peavey Rage 158 or whatever.. small amp, but I like it.. my first one!

For low budget PEavey is probably the way to go, but I guess you can look into Marshall too? My friend has one .. Plus, like he said all the stars use it.. kind of true.
