I currently have one of the free phones from Verizon and it is worthless. Basically I just want a phone that has great reception and is a flip phone so I don't have to worry about hitting buttons when it's in my pocket. Other features don't matter to me much. Don't really care about a camera or anything like that. Good battery life would be nice though.

Edit: I forget to mention, i'd like a tri-mode phone cause the digital signal around here sucks.

i have the 4400, its served me well, but after a year, its becoming a hassle to charge, because the connectors on the battery are worn done. couple that with the fact i have to charge every day/every other day. but it is dependable and functions well. unfortunately, i believe its discontinued at verizon stores. with your specifications, i would recommend the lg vx4500

edit: n/m, it isnt tri-mode, my bad

I get about 3 days of battery with my VX6000 (essentially a VX4600 with a camera I think), and it's brand new. It's not great, but it charges fast enough I don't notice it too much. I was kind of spoiled from my Ericson phone, I'd get a week or longer if I stayed in the digital network with the extended battery.

The 4600 is not a tri-mode phone though, so it's out of the question for you.

One of my friends has a VX4400, she hasn't had it a year now and she's already saying how quickly her battery drains. Replacement batteries are cheap enough on Ebay (I think I paid $15 for a battery, and two chargers) though, so you can always just replace it once it gets bad. At least with the VX6000, like 95% of the batteries are too big to fit in the desk charger or the belt clip, not sure if its the same for the VX4400.

I don't know too much about the Audiovox phones or the Samsung. I don't think you can use MP3 ringtones with the Samsungs (You can with the VX4400 and a data cable, not sure about the audiovox). That may be a non-issue for you anyway

Bump.

I think I've got it down to the LG VX-4400 and the Samsung SCH-A650. I really like the Samsung but it's about $100 more since I can get the other used on ebay. Ring tones are no biggie to me.

I'm very happy with my VX6000. I think they're fairly inexpensive now and with the recent release of the 7000 you will probably see a lot of the 6's for sale on ebay.

Looks cool. Doesn't seem like it's much different from the 4400 other than apperance wise. Link Any idea where to get an unlocked one? They don't have any 5550's on ebay.
