Thanks for crapping. I don't think getting a mouse for around $35 to $40 is unreasonable at all.

That is a nice looking mouse. Question: Does the remote sensor (base station) for the mouse have to be inline with the mouse or can the mouse be placed on a keyboard tray and the remote sensor places somewhere on the desk?

Just point the front of the receiver in the general direction of where you're using the mouse. If uses radio frequencies so it doesn't need to be line of sight like IR.

Just shell out $10 more and get a Razer Diamondback if you're playing FPS games. There's a guy on Ebay who sells then for $50 shipped.

I have never had an issues with my simple MS intellimouse optical. It has 5 buttons (the two extra buttons are one to a side which I perfer over two on one side), does not lag no matter how fast I move the curser, and is pretty darn cheap (I got my last replacement over a year ago for $20). I have tried the logitech MX500 and MX1000 as well as several other MS mice and find the intellimouse optical to be the best for me. It does not seem to fit everyones hands well, but I love the omni-hand shape (and no, I am not left-handed).

I would not go with MS Wireless Intellimouse Explorer 2.0(I assume Spike was referring to that). I had it for a while and it doesn't seem to have any lags with regular web surfing. However, if you are playing games, doing image work or having a lot of fast mouse clicking movements, I can tell you that you will be annoyed by the delay.

Since you are going to play games and the budget is around $30, I would go with the MX510. I think it is onsale for $30 shipped in Amazon.com. Check it out at pricegrabber.com

monarch had the mx510 for $20.50 yesterday but they jacked the price up to 29.50. anyway, the mx510 is the way to go in the $30 range

I love my mx510...very comfortable and has a hefty feel to it. It NEVER lags. most responsive mouse I've ever used. It's also nice to look at (I have the blue version)
