Can someone recommend a good (free) virus scanner?

My system has been acting strange, and I have reason to suspect my girlfriend opened some email attachments. I just want to make sure my rig isn't infected.

InoculateIT isn't around anymore from the letter I got in my email.

They are still updating the virus defs, but they are not offering the program anymore.

Anyone else get an email like this?

Looks like they are going into the virus scan and firewall business.
