Can someone recommend a good/dependable laptop repair shop?

My son's HP laptop has I believe a dead video chip.
It may need a whole mobo repair.
Can anyone recommend any reliable laptop shop in the DFW area that won't rip off?
Thanks

If the GPU is bad then the unit would need the main board replaced. Cost fo the board itself will be close to if not over $500. Then you add the cost of labor on top of that. Then you'll be lucky to get teh thing back in a timly maner. Often if they have to open it up and replace something it will have to be sent off and you won't see it for another 6 to 9 months. Most repair places like best buy don't or can't service laptops in house and end up sending the units out to the manufacture's authorized repair places.

So in the end it would be better to buy a new laptop. Now if the system was still under warenty then you need to take that up with the manufacture and get either a new board or a new laptop. If its not under warenty then its just time for a new system.

It's out of Warranty, unfortunately!
It sounds like I'm hosed.
I just take it apart and sell the good remaining parts off eBay.

That's why I buy low end laptops. I use them until they break, and get another one. There's too many things that can go wrong with a laptop to buy an expensive machine.

Or buy one that have non-integrated parts.

I used to work at Staples....It about 300-350 to fix a non-LCD issue with a laptop. That will cover fixing anything else wrong with the laptop as well including keyboard keys missing etc.
