I am having some major problems. I have fastaccess dsl service from bellsouth. I have an alcatel external dsl modem (speedstream 5250) and the linksys 4 port dsl router. I had my service switched over from PPPoA to PPPoE but the modem refuses to get sync. (no green lights for atm or dsl.) I know the line is active and working because I am currently connected using the free usb modem (speedstream 4060) that came with the service. Bellsouth has not been able to help me because they say that they don't support the 5250 even though that's what they told me to get a month ago when I signed up and asked for an external ethernet modem so that I could set up home networking. So I guess my question really is do I need some additional software (enternet? or modem drivers) to get my modem recognized? If I can't get this to work my only other option is to buy an alcatel speed touch home modem that bellsouth supports. Thanks for any suggestions.

Sounds like you have been hosed! I have aDSL through SouthWestern Bell, and I believe it is nearly the same. They provided SpeedStream 5260 external modem, and besides burning up a PS the first week, it has been relatively trouble free. The setup tech had no idea what he was doing when he did the installation, (I was at work), but I was able to reconfigure everything so it worked properly.

I never could get Network Sharing to work with the 2 NIC cards and my home network, though. Ended up buying Wingate, and that has been easy to setup.

I just downloaded enternet 300 v 1.4 but I have been unable to configure it successfully. I'm going to have bellsouth send a technician out to swap out my 4060 usb for a newer Speed Touch Home ethernet model. Hopefully that will work.
