Can someone help with a Todd/Microtest Disc Zerver (network storage server) ?

I have a Todd (well, formerly Todd, then MicroTest, not who knows--just
how many hands has this company been through, anyway) FileZerver.
This is a Titan unit that includes the "Zerver" a Nakamichi 5 disc CD
changer, and two hot swap 16Gb SCSI drives. It connects through ethernet
and provides Web based management.

I have installed the latest versions of ZerverView and of the firmware.

I am running under Windows 2000.

Here's what I'd like to do: Access the storage on this unit through
my network neighborhood (so I could run programs directly off the Titan,
for example). So far, I have been able to access the device through
HTTP: (which means I have to download any files I want before I can use
them) and through ftp:, but I have not been able to make it act like
a standard ethernet connected device. I can get the device to show up in
my network neighborhood, but when I click on the icon, I get a "path
not found" error.

I have it set up with a static IP address, and with the same workgroup
name as my host computer.

What do I have to do to get it to work properly as networked device that
I can explore like any networked computer?

One more thing: I changed the name of the device from the default
(which is some odd alphanumeric string) to something simple. BUT I
can't access it through http: using the new string (even after rebooting),
although the original alphanumeric string still works, i.e. http://<string>/.
Any suggestions about that?
