Can someone help me with VirtualDub?

One of my AVI files has severely desynchronized audio and video. By my calculations, an audio event occurs about 4.964 seconds before the corresponding video event. I think I know how to go about making the changes, but I can't figure out how to see my changes without saving the entire file over again.

Any help would be appreciated.

If there is a simpler program, perhaps solely for the purpose of fixing the audio/video alignment, I would much prefer that 🙂

To my knowledge, Virtualdub doesn't preview audio changes, only video changes. Just set both the video & audio settings to "direct stream copy", and in the audio interleaving menu set the proper audio delay. The processing will be very fast, even on large .avi files.

well is there a way to only do part of it so i can test it and make sure its right?

EDIT: the delay seems to be constant

It would take more time to break the picture up into smaller pieces & test on a small segment - then to actually try it out on the entire file. Just do it, write it to a new file, and if the delay is still not quite right, just readjust the delay and save another copy.
