A fellow shitlord!

Obesity costs the taxpayers money for selfish decisions.

That alone makes it not okay.

This fat acceptance movement is like encouraging meth addicts to love themselves and not worry about quitting.

Stop stuffing your fucking face and get off your ass.

Bullshit. We live in a free society. I'm tired of this hypocritical progressive mindset.

Work on yourself first and stop using social pressure and a faulty tax code as a crutch for your belligerence. Who the fuck made you the world's actuary? Otherwise you are yet another tough guy hiding behind a keyboard.

If you're obese, beating obesity and maintaining it is by far the most difficult thing that you'll ever do in your life. It's harder than anything that most people will do in their life. I'd go so far as to say that the majority of people simply aren't capable of doing it, not without significant outside help. The average person struggles to lose 20 lbs and keep it off. No imagine that you have to lose 100, 150, or more. It seems like such an impossible task that it's terrifying. Denial is way way easier.

Sure thing.

Uh...er... what was I doing that was costing billions in tax payer dollars? Oh that's right.

Because our culture would rather embrace victimhood than actually solve self inflicted problems. That would be too hard.
Not just our culture. There are some prominent and fairly old religions that are all about the wonderful benefit of suffering. As a species, we're really good at rationalizing away problems.

"Wow, life seems awfully harsh and short. Ooh, ooh, I know! Maybe suffering is a good thing! We should embrace the lousy BS that life throws at us all the time."

It sometimes even goes so far as to actively oppose technological advances that can reduce suffering or even loss of life.

Do you drive? You should walk to save tax payer money.

Do you send kids to public schools? You should home school or send them to private school to save tax payer money.

Do you live in the suburbs? You should live right next to your job to save tax payer money.

Do you pee in toilets? Pee in your shower or on the side of your house to save tax payer money.

to me coddling an obese person when they need a swift kick in the ass is passively treating them like shit. You just don't care enough to tell them how it really is. Your house is on fire, but it's ok. It's just really warm for a while.

You don't like fat people. I don't like stupid people. You can't fix me. I can't fix you. It's all a wash.

Shaming or quilting people into good health just compounds their problem. If one truly cared, instead empower others toward positive change with basic exercise and nutritional information.

I know it's tough, but learning from the successes and failures of others is empowering in itself. Then take these learned principles and apply them to yourself. Stereotyping people is the sign of a very weak mind.

Yet there is a far more pragmatic and selfish/indifferent approach. The greater amount of these unhealthy people surrounding us the less competitive the atmosphere. Why would anyone negatively give such a fuck about other people? What purpose does it serve??

But then, passive-aggressive people always pretend their motives are ignoble. These same people often ridicule the very things they see (yet ignore) in themselves.

Again, if you can't do at least 40 pushups and 40 pullups and run 1.5 miles, you need to stfu.

Take those wasted moments thinking mostly about others and start turning them into opportunities for yourself. Otherwise the more big, strong, educated and focused (your true competition) will exploit your weak lazy mind and eat you fucking whole.

I haven't really been convinced that shaming does much damage. The only study I've seen said that people claiming to have been shamed showed a 2 pound retention of fattiness compared to those that claimed no shaming experiences; a negligible difference at best, and it doesn't consider that people with victim complexes are less likely to better themselves since they've already given up.

Stereotyping in this case is valid when obesity was never a serious problem just a few generations ago. The overwhelming majority of obese Americans are as such because of lack of self-control/poor eating habits. You seriously think that there's a conspiracy of non-obese people, shaming the obese in order to keep them that way as a method of competition? lol.

What does doing x pushups and pullups and running y miles have to do with anything? I'm scrawny and weak as fuck, but I'm pretty sure there isn't data showing how I'm going to strain the medical system and cost society $$$ due to my own habits.

None or almost none, which was the point of his post.

As for the OP, JC on a stick, you're one shallow, ignorant twerp.

Can you help me understand why you think your loud-mouthed ignorance is ok? :colbert:

So.. obesity is a problem. No? You don't think obesity is a problem?

So would I be an shallow, ignorant twerp for saying alcoholism is a problem too?

With all due respect, I don't think it's ignorant at all. You just don't want to hear it, apparently.

Hey don't blast me for your inability to put the potato chips down. Your arguments are poor at best but:

#1 I ride my bicycle. (Car shit out and was down in mpg by a lot for some reason). Ocassionally I car pool.

#2 I live .8 miles from my work. In Hawaii I lived 250 yards from my work.

#3 private school

#4 :awe:

What's your excuse again? Oh...excersize is hard and you can't eat less than 3500 calories a day because muffins are 600 calories and you can't just eat 1 right? Oh and genetics. Damn you science!

I don't have any excuse. I believe in individual rights and that America isn't a authoritarian country where we mandate all our citizens to conform their lives in a certain way to maximize GDP. I could give a rat's a$$ if you think I should exercise more.

Munching on a delicious hamburger while I type this. I'm sure if you provided me with all the details of your life, I could find some cost cutting measures for you if you feel compelled pursuing your goal for the sake of minimizing your burden to everyone else in the country.

I totally agree with this.

What someone does with their own body, is up to them.

What I take issue with is obese people trying to tell other obese people that they should just give up and embrace their fatness because it's perfectly healthy to be obese.

Oh, you have aids? no big deal. Just embrace it. Don't fight it!

So if you require a quadruple bypass to survive your latest self-inflicted burger injury, will you abstain from any medical help and agree to simply agree to die? If not, you don't believe in individual responsibilities for your individual rights.

So if I decide heroin is just the bees knees will you pay my medical and dental bills? I'm also going to need all ambulances to be outfitted with rehab stations and oh, instead of a standard EMS dispatch I'm going to need about 4 teams to be pulled to help me.

Mah condishuns and genetiks. I'm not drain society. Hurting my fee fees. Where's them burgers at. I have rights.

Right?

What ever happened to minding your own fucking business?

It's no longer private business. To the tune of 190 billion a year because you like cake. It's not a private matter.

Also this is child abuse. No question. But you're right, should just mind our business so you can keep cramming that pork hole of yours.

I don't really care what people do to their own bodies. It's people touting the idea that it's ok to be obese that I take issue with. It's a societal problem, so it's everybody's business.

oh god i love the thyroid excuse.

if any morbidly obese person ever tells you it's their thyroid, you know for sure they are delusional and totally in denial.
