Can someone help me identify this electronics component?

Also can anyone tell me if there are different resistances or whatevers. If one fell off a motherboard, can I just take one that looks like it matches and replace it/re-solder it back on or do I need to find out exactly what type and the properties of it as well before trying to re-solder it back on?

The black ones with markings are resistors, the tan colored ones are capacitors. With the resistors you should be able to order a replacement SMT resistor of the same size and value and be okay. With the capacitors it will be trickier to figure out their capacitance / voltage.
