I took a advantage of the netfirms hosting for $10 a year and although I don't have much experience I have created a test web page an successfully uploaded it to my account. I am kind of stuck after this because I can't get my page to load for some reason. I used net fusion 8 to upload it and all the files are in the www folder but I don't know what to do after this. I can't find any documentation to address my problem. The default page was in this same folder and loaded fine, I even delete the default page and still I cannot get it to load. I even renamed it from home to index, deleted it and uploaded one named index and still no success. Is there anyone else that has a netfirms site that can tell me what I am suppost to do after I upload my site to get it to direct the page there when I type in my web address. All I need to do is get it to work once and I should be set but there are no walk throughs on this.

Thanks for any help.

if this help anyone get me a solution, I can view it on any computer but it is at this address:

https:// mydomainnamehere .sslpowered.com/index.htm

not www.mydomainnamehere.com

The site says if you transfer a webpage it takes 24 to 72 hours for it to show up, but you should be able to see it is updated or new. It has been there since last night and I think it should have been enough time.

The thing that gets me is it is probably some setting I need to change or load or something easy like that which is obviouse and right in front of my face. Since I have never done this before I am totally in the dark.

Try this:

create a blank html file, give it the name

index.html

and upload it to your site with the other html files you already have there.

Tehn try it.

Just tried it but no success.

The basic blank page opens from my desk top and I can click on it and open it up in the netfirms file manager and it opens but it has .sslpowered.com/index.htm as part of the name instead of just .com/index.htm. If you type the web address with that in it there is no problem, it loads up and you can navagate the site. It should work by typing in just my domain name but no browser can find it. I am at a loss on this.

I wish I would not have deleted the default pages so I could see what the code said. I don't remember those having .sslpowered.com/index.htm as part of the address. The default pageds just showed my domain name only on the home page address and nothing else and worked like a charm.

I can't figure out why this doesn't work, just a blank page with nothing on it should do something. The only thing I can think of right now is that maybe takes a day or two to be accessable after you update it which would be really annoying.

Hopefully someone else that uses netfirms also will read this and have an idea what is going on here.

Try this, Call Them and ask them to look at at it. They have always been great to help me when I need it. Usually only takes about 24 hours once your page is uploaded. I really like that they have a telephone number and a human to talk to. Good luck.

try
(1) removing the blank space after https:// and before mydom...

(2) /index.html instead of index.htm

(3) http:// instead of https://
