Can someone give me some suggestions for a 1k build

For 1,000 you could get 2 gigs of ram. Nvidia 7200 graphics card. And at least an amd turion 64x2 dial core processor. And a webcam.
 
AMD Athlon64 X2 3800+ or Intel Core 2 Duo E6300
lots of mobos, can help you when you give us more details of what you want your comp to do
2x512MB (1GB) or 2x1GB (2GB) of ram
Seagate 7200.10 320GB SATA HD
Geforce 7600GT/7900GS or an ATI equivalent card
case is your own preference
fortron 450W PSU or whatever other name brand PSU
NEC 3550A/7170 DVD-RW

do you need keyboard/mouse/speakers/monitor to be included?
 
The above suggestion seems to assume you're going to use the system largely for gaming. It is a poor configuration for anything else. It is important you tell us what you plan to do, exactly.

he's asking what are you going to use this computer for it matters because we base it off what should be put into your system

example: let say this is a gaming computer your going to want a nice video card as gaming is gpu dependent.
If your not a gamer there is no point of spending a money on a video card you don't need in change saving you money for the rest of your rig.
