Can someone give me some short-growing period veggies/fruits/cultivars?

Its midway through the summer, and I still want to plant some more stuff. I'm out of room, but I got a bunch of containers I can fill. But I'm running out of summer. This is Houston, so things don't really get cold until October, often later. But still, not a ton of time. Can someone suggest some summer crops/cultivars with lowish days to harvest so I can order some and get them planted ASAP?

Well those are more fall items Leymenaide, I was hoping to get some summer ones in the ground that mature quick. Okra (although I have a ton of this planted already), melons, cukerabits, however that is spelled, etc. etc. Thanks!

Grow basil, now. And keep rotating through greens, like arugula.

There is no short season version of okra, just as there is really no short season version of corn. Both are long season plants. You may tweak a week or two by breeding for early maturity, but that is not applicable here.

Cucumbers and the rest of the squash family require more time than you have left in the season. They are storage plants.

Hey Gardener. I just went on a binge and ordered like $60 of seeds from rareseeds.com . All or most normal stuff, like corn, and hell too drunk to remember now, but all summer stuff, but with supposed short growing season, like 70 days to mature.

I am in Houston. So it don't even start getting cold until October, and really November.

I'll post some of the stuff I plant so you can see and we can rap some more about it.
