I am installling this into a ABIT SlotKet III and putting into a BX6 R2. I have never installed a PGA chip before or put the fan and heatsink on (retail HSF). I have always only installed Slot 1's before.

Couple of questions:

1) When you put chip into the FC-PGA slot does it snap into the board or just lay it there and close the lever??

2) how do you put the retail HSF on the chip...It doesnt seem like those metal clips will reach for both sides?

3) Also is the metal clips on the Retail Heatsink and Fan (HSF) suppose to be rally loose and move around all over the place???

Thanks Guys....

once you put the clip on it probably shouldn't be going anywhere... it uses a lot of pressure. not as much as the t-birds though.

Do I have to push down hard on the Chip itself....becuase now when I put it in and close the lever I can still take the chip out even with the lever down....that makes me think I have to snap the chip in until I cant see any pins....Is that correct???

Thanks Guys....

Do not, repeat DO NOT, push the chip down hard. Look at the pin side of it, and look for the corner that does not have pins all the way to the edge. Match the chip to the socket on the slocket. It will only go in one way.

When all the pins are aligned correctly, with the lever raised all the way, it should just drop into the slocket without force. If it won't, you may have a bent pin. Examine the pins for any that are bent, very carefully and slowly straighten any bent pins.

You should not be able to see any pins when it is seated correctly and you should not be able to lift it out after you have closed and latched the lever.
