Can someone give me a definite answer on why certain sports games are "blacked out"?

Ok Colt, thanks. I had a few people call in to customer service and literally berate and swear and cuss at me because they had a "package" of sports channels and this said game was supposed to be broadcasted on that channel. However it was blacked out locally. This guy just swore at me and told me I'm an idiot and he paid for it and he should get the damn game.
 
they need to fill up the stadium? if the stadium/venue is not filled up, then they won't air the games.

It comes back to $$$

I wouldn't be completely opposed to actually going to the game if it didn't cost me two arms and a leg.
 
Are you talking about local games being blacked out on national packages? Or local games being blacked out on local channels?

This is reassuring that not everyone are a-holes. I'm glad you would be able to put it in a reasonable tone and manner. I'm often saddened by the people who just call in and berate the crap and tell me "You're the problem, YOU did not fix it, YOU charged me."
