so people like me dont look back in hindsight and say "damn i wish i waited another month to get this computer" having regrets?

I know theres Crossfire but when will this hit mainstream and at what point will this influence the prices of something like a 7800GT?

I believe theres that X1800 chip or something but I dont know much about it. When is this expected out, and how do you see this influencing prices of current hardware when it does go retail?

Then theres those .9 harddrives but am i right that they wont be out until at least 2 months?

anything else in the near future? I just dont want to have any regrets in terms of when i purchased, and i'd like to hit that sweet spot in terms of purchasing at the best time to save me money, which i assume would be a little bit after new stuff comes out?

Thanks.

I'd just upgrade right now and get cost-effective stuff, like a high-end single core cpu, regular ddr memory, a 6800 gt or 7800 or equivalent ati card, etc. There is some very nice stuff coming out in the future, like AMD boards using DDR2, dual and quad core cpu's, etc, but by the time these things come out even neater stuff will be in the works.

Besides, there is no new game technology under development that I am aware of that will utilize any future techs. Games for the next year or two will be based on the doom 3 engine or similar engines, meaning upgrading to equipment available today will be more then enough to last for a while.

eta: this is what I did. I just upgraded to an amd 4000+, kept my AGP 6800 gt, and got 2 gigs of ddr ram. It's plenty to run doom 3 or battlefield 2 at the highest settings, and wasn't too expensive either.
