Can someone figure how to install Windows 2K onto D201GLY*?

Can anybody piecemeal the drivers for the system chips so we can still use our OS licenses from Windows 2000 Pro and have full use of USB 2.0, etc?

MOD EDIT: Moved to Motherboards forum.

Have you tried using the XP drivers that are available? Sometimes they'll load on 2K, you may have to load the drivers manually rahter than run the setup executable, by that I mean let it unpack the drivers to a directory and then point it to the INF manually.

Oh BTW, this should be moved to the motherboard forums.

Just what do these mean, and where can I find them if I find that they could be of use to my application?

Nevermind, I looked them up and they're just some self promoting statements.
More importantly, I'm wondering just how to set up a diskless system to boot off a server.

BIOS
? Intel® BIOS
? Support for SMBIOS
? Intel® Rapid BIOS Boot
? Intel® Express BIOS Update

Hi Bup,

yes, I am selling Sis drivers....please post your PayPal info here so I can tap your account.

Sorry, that was an attempted joke; if you go to that link I posted above

http://www.sis.com/download/

you need to click on the "I accept the whatever" link, that will take you to a page that starts:

WELCOME TO SiS DOWNLOAD CENTER

Below you will find drivers for all SiS core logic chipsets , mature GPUs and network controllers. Just choose from the selections below and press Go when you are ready to download. For Linux users, please check out this page.

Under "step by step", you will see Windows 2000 listed under the supported Operating Systems.

"Step 2" will show you Win2K drivers that are available.

To get your chipset driver, choose "IGP" (integrated graphics processor) in step two, then choose the Sis66X driver in step three.

I put the link to the manual at Intel's site only because I needed to see the exact model number of the northbridge and southbridge of the chipset.

Windows 2000 has some very basic chipset and graphics drivers built in, which are completely inadequate for day to day use, unless you like 640 by 400 graphics....

So, install Windows with service pack 4, then chipset and graphics drivers, then Windows update (lots of updates), then applications, finish with antivirus.

PS: I am not sure if that LAN adpater can support network boot....couldn't find any documentation on it, and it's not in the manual. GL.

Thanks for your reply.
Just a quick clarification if you will-- should I at all use the drivers that come with the board? This last time they were for Windows XP only. Perhaps this new board will have the option for W2k; I won't hold my breath. Have you yourself worked with a "Little Valley"? If not, that doesn't invalidate your methology. I'm just curious.
Also, is it true that the cpu used in the D201GLY is different in micro architecture from the D201GLY2?
Someone stated that the "2" means that the D201GLY2 has a cpu based on core2 technology and implies a quicker machine.

I think they are XP only, since Win2K is past end of life--and I do not know is the XP drivers will work OKwith Win2K--I read above that they probably will, but I do not know.

Have you yourself worked with a "Little Valley"?

I do not have one; was waiting for version with SATA ports; and, the upcoming Mini DTX boards look good, since they are not limited in CPU choice, and can support more than 1GB of ram.
