Can someone explain to me how Phil Jackson's triangle offense worked?

a) No I can't explain it. :)

b) It's not Phil Jackson's offense. It's Tex Winters' (PJ's assistant coach).

c) Its more technical name is the Triple Post Offense.

d) There's a really good website out there that explains it with animated diagrams... but I can't find it at the moment.

That espn article actually makes a lot of sense (and the diagrams are easily followed). Very good read.

it involves shaq making movies (1), producing rap albums (2), all while playing ball (3), so that everybody else will just let him dunk all he wants so he doesn't do 1 & 2.

I prefer the NBA Live 2004 offense of turning off fouls and stripping the ball everyplay, then doing a layup.... easy way to beat any team 130-10. :D

You give the ball to Shaq. He leans forward and shoves backward with his ass. The defenders are forced under the hoop, where Shaq musy choose whether to:

1. Dunk
2. Try to get fouled
3. Pass to Kobe

Each of those decisions in considered one "side" of the triangle. And there you have the triangle offence.
