Can someone explain to me about sending flowers with FTD?

I want to send some flowers to my GF at our workplace (she works in the same company as i do). I'm guessing UPS or Fedex ships the flowers for FTD, right? Do they ship it with all the other packages? Or do they ship them more carefully? Also, do they ship them in a box? I'm kind of nervous that FTD or one of the shipping companies will screw up the flowers i send.

AFAIK, FTD does not ship flowers. From my understanding, the orders are farmed out to local florists who put the arrangements together and deliver them.

yeap. Haven;t you even see the FTP stickers in flower shop windows?

OP actually thinks they ship the flower arrangements UPS/FedEx? Common....

Bingo... FTD orders are filled and delivered by local florists.

Proflowers.com ships via FedEx.

I've used both. Mixed results with FTD, but if you order early enough you can get flowers delivered same day.

Proflowers has always sent very nice flowers... my wife prefers them from here. (not that it's up to her ;) )

Edit... dang I type slow... got several responses while I was typing...lol

Oh, and OP... it's going to be cheaper for you to contact the local florist directly and order the arrangement that way.

Cut out the middle man....

depends on arrangments... I've seen it both ways. With FTD etc you can order online too... click-click versus a real phone call and arguable "See" what you are getting (if you don't know jack about flowers)

I used use Proflowers a lot until the quality dwindled and then my gf got flowers and a card meant for a stripper in Dallas instead of the 2 dozen roses I ordered for Valentines. Proflowers could care less, they said they'd resend them but the whole point is kind of ruined by then.

How can you tell a story like this without mentioning what was in the stripper's card???? BAN!

You work in the same building as your gf? Then just call a local flower shop. They will bring the flowers over themselves and there is no shipper involved.

Like AbsolutDealage mentioned, always call a flower shop directly and skip the middleman. That keeps the shop from screwing up and blaming it on the FTD order, or someone else. I find a shop near where I want them delivered, call them directly, get the person's name, and explain what I want. If something were to go wrong, there's only one person responsible, and I have never had a screw-up.
