But, you can see the value there in knowing who to target for future political donations.

Why not? If you give Newt your name and phone number, he is under no legal obligation to keep it secret. If he handed out your credit card number it would be different.

Many companies that you deal with sell your name. If you read through their privacy policies they'll talk about making your name available to others. Donate to the wrong charity and watch the begging letters from others flood in.

Anyone you do business with will sell your contact information. It's another revenue stream for them. They all do it. Private companies, nonprofits, political organizations.

Politicains don't play by the rules. They write laws and exempt themselves or haven't you noticed they can call your house while Amway can't? Sure they can sell these.

I can imagine the onslaught of political and religious begging the Republicans in here get mailed and E-mailed everyday.
