<< there called stupid kids. I hate cell phones for that very reason. Buy a cell phone killer. >>

So do ALL my teachers.

Everyday they'd say: put's your phone away, put's your calculator away and puts your walkman away. Sometimes five or six times during a period.
>>

is there a reason they don't just confiscate those things?

btw, in college, some professors will just kick you out of class. i like that solution better actually.

I kinda miss the days of high school when the teachers would take away any students cell phone or pager if it ever went off during class. I swear if they can't remember to turn off their phone before class they shouldn't even be in college. Whats worse is when they try to pretend its not there and let it ring or answer it in class. Whats even worse than that in one class, my TA told everyone he has a zero tolerance on cell phones. One goes off. He again reminds people to turn off their cell phones. Guess what, another goes off sometime later. He looks pretty pissed by now, but thats not the end of it. One last time, another one goes off in lecture. I swear, I really wish college professors/TA's could take away their phones so that these children would learn as they run to their parents for help like they alway do.

I really hope that it was not your English teachers speaking like that.

<< I guess it's a bit of a risk but half the time it probably does you more harm to not let that aggravation out on the perpetrator. Live a little! >>

Hahaha, I like that philosophy, although it's not for everyone.

Reminds me of this one time, I drove up to Berkeley to visit some friends. Not too far from Berkeley HS, this pack of HS chicks decided to just jaywalk right in front of my car. Of course, I had to stop for them, but I swear they walked real slow and made me wait for them.

Well, to return the favor, right after the last girl cleared my front bumper, I did a massive burnout and the tires made a huge, beautifully piercing screeeeech. They literally jumped, their expressions were priceless. :D I mean sure they were cute but I don't give a f*ck how pretty you are, don't waste my time and get the f*ck out of my way. :Q

Hehe, you show 'em.

"On their way out, one of the girls stops by our table and says to me that it was very rude of me to tell them to turn off the cell phone because their brother died recently and they were waiting for a call."

You should have asked her if he refused to turn his cell phone off too?

Seriously, there does seem to be a "I'm the only one that's important" attitude amoung some of the young today. Common courtesy is not that common anymore.

<< At the door she says "you're just jealous because you don't have a cell phone." >>

BWAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!! That's just SOOOOO hilarious! Well, to me it is :). I just find the idea of someone mocking others for not having a cell-phone... Well, retarded. It could be extra-funny since the whole concept is alien to me since, everybody here (as in Finland) has a cell-phone.

Yes, she was a moron. And the fact that her brother just died is not a valid excuse for stupidity! The fact that her brother died and she was expecting a call gives is not a valid excuse to play around with her phone and bothers others with it!

Everybody is pretty slightly put ;) ..hell, I wouldn't be suprised at all to see a pet dog with a cellphone. Umm.. well maybe a bit.. :D

Last time I saw someone bragging with a cellphone was like three or four years ago, if not longer.

You should've suggested a vibrating phone. Tell her that it would be a hit with her especially under the table since her attitude reflects the fact that she isn't getting any! :D

Cheers!

Cell phones are retarded for most people. As if we never got along before without them. Most people just want to be SEEN talking on a cell phone.

I generally dont like cell phones. I've got one, but I only have it for emergencies, like if my car breaks down or something. I recently bought a new one because my other one broke and in all the stores i went to they just wanted my to have to most expensive ones, and i'm like "Look, I just want a phone for emergencies and maybe the odd text message, it doesnt need to do the goddam Lombarda!!!"

People who just sit and play with them, making them ring and stuff, are just really retarded and it stands out that they havent got anything better to do than make their phone play stupid sounds. Then when a normal person like tkdkid tackles them about it, they realise they look stupid and go on the offensive with stupid dumbass comments, making them look even more stupid. GGRRRR!!!!!

my $0.02 rant :disgust:

That will stop as cell-phones become more common. We had that phenomena about 7-10 years ago. I remember one time when this guy was in a line in a local bank, and talked on a cell-phone (still analog NMT-phone back then). He wanted to make sure that everybody saw that he had a cell-phone. As he was talking... The phone suddenly rang! Which meant that he wasn't REALLY talking on the phone, he was just showing off! Few people started to laugh openly as the guys face turned red. He left the bank about 5 seconds after that :D.

Now-a-days, since everybody has a phone, there's nothing to gain by "showing off".

A turkey bastard (squirt bulb or syringe type) with a few cc's of ammonium sulphide (squirt under the booth to their seats) does wonders btw! :)

Cheers!

<< Who brags about having a cell phone these days? >>

I try not to let people know I have a cellphone, cuz I don't want them to have a grasp of knowledge that they can get a hold of me whenever they want.

People also got along without electricity before, it's just a nice thing to have.

I personally have abandoned the "normal" phone completely, cellphone is all I use these days.
