Can someone explain the relative speed ranks of the AMD processors?

Thanks for helping out a newbie! I looked through lots of old posts, but I couldn't find the specific info I needed.

I just bought an Athlon classic slot A 950 MHz/chaintech MB combo for $220 (with fan and shipping) -- would I have been better off getting a duron or spending more for a T-bird?

I want the fastest/cheapest combo, but I'm a bit wary of overclocking.

Many apologies if this is on the wrong forum or if it has already been answered. Thanks for any help!

that depends on what speed classic you got if a Duron would be a better deal. However gnerally speaking yes Duron should be preferred over classic, they are pretty much on par preformancewise clock-for-clok, and the Tbird is faster.
