Can Someone explain the point of this device

The other benefit is that you can capture video on any PC/Mac/Console without losing performance by recording to another PC using the capture device.

I'm not sure I get it... I guess the capability to stream while playing? Who does that and why?

Let's play videos are huge right now. Up until recently, those things were the only way to capture HD game-play footage on consoles.

This.

If I were one of those professional PC game streamer/reviewer dudes, I would have two separate desktop PCs, sitting side by side: One of them for gaming, and the other would be dedicated purely to capturing and editing the footage.

Using dedicated recording hardware is great. It means that regardless of how buggy your game is, if the game crashes, or you have to switch games, or you have to switch between game-mode/desktop-mode or your PC literally just breaks down altogether during recording, you still have an uninterrupted capture in progress no matter what.

Some twitch streamers make over 12k a MONTH so i think its worth the time for certain people for streaming. 😀

This popular twitch streamer i calculated his donations and subscribers for 2 hours i watched..he made over $500. That is AFTER twitch takes out its portion. That is pretty crazy. he does fund raisers that will net 20-30k sometimes.

That is just insane...

So... The end product here is a smooth video that people can watch of someone else playing a game... I can imagine there's some limited use for that... Just surprised it's that big of a deal...

Interesting...

It is a big deal if you are into recording your game play. Especially for those who make an income from it. It is not a big deal to your average person.

Amazes me anyone even on twitch can make that kind of money.

Should have been steaming some beta things in the past, heh, but I guess you'd have to have subscribers.
