I will build a system with X2 3800+ or 4200+ (Do not Overclock)
maybe with MSI K8N Neo4 Platium
Seagate 250G

Thinking whose either Sonata II or P 150
Read some people say the PSU of P150 has problem but do not understand too much
Can anyone explain it?

Some will say Antec PSU are having problems because they sell a bazzillion of 'em.

Antec is squeezing the juice($$$) out of their suppliers.

The 430 watt Antecs have a very poor track record.

Google, Antec leaking caps and Antec 430 caps. Enjoy :D

Avoid modular as voltage drops across the plugs is for real. Sleeve your own cables.

Buy Fortron, Sparkle, Enermax, Seasonic, Zippy/Emacs or PCP&C. Those are the good'ens
that come quickly to mind.

i can tell you that the Neo Power 480 would not power my asus a8n premium or my a8n32 even tho 480w was plenty for what i had hooked up to it.

The current Neos have an incompatibility problem with Asus boards. They will, if not already, have revised units that have addressed this problem. You can RMA your PSU for the newer version.

Yank - Thanks, was just trying to find that article on SPCR, didn't realize it was TH!

There's no doubt that Antec has produced some mediocre products, unfortuntately as has been stated it's because of the caps and some other components that they may have gone cheaply, trying to keep the final price down.

Personally I love their cases and PSU's, and haven't had any problems with them. I'm knocking on some serious wood right now since a large, extremely heavy box appeared under the christmas tree with my name on it...containing a P150.

Haven't even opened it yet, need to make sure I've got a day that I don't need my machine...but damn that thing's sexy. Best xmas quote from my wife...

"Yes honey, it's okay, you can hump it if you want to."

-z

P.S. in another box under the tree was a Zalman 9500. Looks like it's going to be a tight fit in the case, but I'm thinking with this new setup I can probably maintain 3.9ghz on my 3.0E. Already know I can get it stable for short periods of time but it gets up to about 80C then crashes Prime95 (two instances to torque the HT).

"rushed to munich" lol.

lets not be over dramatic :p
Because we determined that the ripple tests can remain entirely within spec in the present models and that the other values were flawless, the Antec devices still earned positive test grades.

For GH, search WARNING in title or summary. Read the links in the opening post.

Google Antec leaking caps. Enjoy :D

I would use an Antec PSU for a door stop or to bench test fans. Really.

you referring to oneskes troll thread? great source. what a joke. i find it pathetic really that you'd even consider that pile of crap a source. really.

what will i find googling? more links to problems with the original true 430s that everyone knows had cap problems?

btw, wasn't the cap issues that hit antec at the time pretty much an industry wide problem?

I am worried. I bought a P150 from newegg and the case arrived at my post office this morning. I will be working on it soon. There better not be a problem with the PSU. I will be damned...:frown:

The links in the troll thread were not generated by him and in our GH forum there are several Antec PSU threads every two weeks about system instability.

I find it amazing that Antec techs from Taiwan and the USA would be sent to Munich THG
to assist in that sites testing of one of their PSUs. Doesn't wash.

I would take a Fortron/Sparkle any day over a similarly speced Antec.
My last PSU purchase was a Zippy HG-2 6400P for $100 to my door. I won't buy suspect
goods.

This is the last post in a running gun fight. :)

i dunno, i think you're screwed. i mean spcr recommends it but what do they know?

and for Gods sake, i hope you didn't get a seagate drive of any type as clearly they will all fail.

don't listen to the FUD, you could do alot worse than antec.

mine as well. i swore i'd never get into another antec thread. maybe that'll be my "new" new years resolution
