Can someone explain started checks to me?

What function do they serve? I have so far have had no need to ever use a check book thanks to electronic transfers and check cards.. but what purpose do starter checks serve and is there something I need to do about them?

starter checks? What, like a training bra, but for the bank? I don't get it.

You have never heard of them? Most stores wont take them, they don't have your name and such on them and almost every bank gives them out..

Starter checks are just checks you receive when you open a bank account. Usually it takes a couple of weeks to get the original checks with your name so they give you a few checks just in case you need them

i think you mean starter check books as in when you first open a checking account they offer you a check book, am i right? well there are some things that you'd like to pay with checks instead of online or other methods. I pay all my bills with checks just to keep a valid and physical record.

The last time I opened up a new checking account, the starter checks had my name on them. A few years before that, the starter checks just had the account printed on them. They usually give you about ten of them to get you by until your regular checks come in.

So starter checks are just to tide you over until they give you your real checks then? For example.. I get the starter checks and just have to wait for a while until then send me my real ones?

Exactly. I found that most places would take my starter checks, but one bank in canada couldn't cash them.

Anyway you don't want to be one of those people that pays for stuff with checks when they can use debit or credit card, do you?
