Can someone explain how vouchers work for IT certifications?

I'm looking at getting some more certs and I'm interested in how the vouchers work that I've heard about. I've briefly looked up vouchers online and it seems like you save $50 or so over just taking the test, but I'm not sure where to go from there. I've seen vouchers for VUE and Prometric so I'm assuming that I'd have to buy the correct voucher for the correct testing center? If that's the case, then would anyone know what New Horizons is considered?

I'm basically looking to beef up my resume a bit so I figure getting some certs would help out a little and I'm just trying to save some money in the process (if that's possible).

Sorry if these are dumb questions, but apart from getting my A+ I didn't really get involved in the certification process.

Basically a voucher is your ticket to take the exam. You purchase it ahead of time and then you are ususally given an email confirmation with the actual voucher number. After that you go online to the testing web site and sign up for a test, location, date, and time. At checkout you then probably put in your voucher number which correlates to your purchase and then that info is transmitted to the certified location which will be administering your test.
